The Corona Rally Mexico has a long history within the world of rallying. First created in 1979, the race ran intermittently until it's inevitable inclusion into the FIA World Rally Championship in 2003, its 17th year of existence. Mexico is the fourth rally on the FIA championship schedule, and it is also the first non snow and ice WRC rally of the year. The race is run on gravel with 20 special stages- mixing fast roads with twisty, technical sections. Even the most seasoned drivers must be on their toes as the race winds over the mountains of Sierra de Lobos and Sierra de Guanajuato. Teams in 2007 will have to contend with an even more compact route, consisting of an amazing 860 total kilometers. The Special Stage at the end of each day is always a crowd favorite, and keeps even the farthest reaching fan coming back to Leon, Mexico year after year.
