PRE RACE :: DAY 1 :: DAY 2 :: DAY 3 :: DAY 4 :: DAY 5 :: DAY 6 :: DAY 7

Below is Ken Block's blog from Day 5 at the WRC Mexico in Leon.
Friday was Day 1 of the rally and consisted of nearly 90 miles over 8 stages.

8 AM, ready to start the day.

Shortly after the start...day over.

Quick right turn and I misjudged the braking point. The light gravel outside the racing line was really loose...thus we hit the bank. We weren't the first to hit that bank...at least three other cars went off before us. Apparently, we hit it harder than the others! Very frustrating.

There’s nothing like this feeling. My first WRC event, first stage, and a simple mistake. I wish I could take it back, but I can’t. Tomorrow's another day and I am thankful that I will be able to get back on the road.

Travis at the first service. All smiles. He drove exceptionally well today.

My car finally arrives at service ready to be repaired.

The techs get to work. The worst part of this was waiting for the FIA official to come inspect the cage to see if I could continue the next day after the repairs. The cage checked out good...we got the thumbs up late in the afternoon.

This was my wife's punishment for me for my crash. See what happens when a driver gets stuck at service all afternoon?

Christian checking them into control for the last service of the day.

Travis was very popular with the media today.

Travis' car being re-prepped during the last service...then, it was off to parc ferme.

The Mexican fans are really loving having Travis down for the WRC race. He signed autographs for an hour. He’s always been very good with the fans.

My car is ready! Because of the "super rally rules" I get to restart Saturday morning. Thanks guys for putting her back together!
